Silver Alert Program Launching in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Police Department and Senior Affairs division are implementing a new program designed to help seniors and their caregivers:  "Silver Alert."

The "Silver Alert" program will work much like the "Amber Alert" program for missing children.  The alert will be activated when a person with Alzheimer's disease or dementia goes missing.  Once a "Silver Alert" is sounded, APD will provide information about the missing person (including a photograph) to local media,  electronic bulletin boards, and within APD social media.

If you would like to enroll your loved one in the program, the City of Albuquerque is having an enrollment fair at the Barelas Senior Center, from 9-2 on February 14.  At the fair, they will provide families with a computer jump drive loaded with a picture and information about their family member.  Then, if the family member goes missing and an alert needs to be issued, the family can simply bring in the jump drive, and the photo and information can be quickly passed along.
